Musk called AI a “force for good”

Elon Musk, the boss of Tesla, recently shared his thoughts on the future of AI, and he means business about it. He said it’s likely AI will be on the side of good, but he doesn’t discount the possibility that someone could use it for evil purposes.

After chatting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Musk said that AI could change the game in the labor market so dramatically that many of today’s professions will be unnecessary. However, he is confident that in most cases the technology will do more good than harm. But, as is often the case with powerful technologies, there is always a risk that they can get out of control.

Elon has suggested that the ratio of good to bad in the use of AI is about 80 to 20. This is not the first time he has sounded wary when it comes to AI, saying that it is like opening Pandora’s box or letting the genie out of the bottle – who knows what then will begin.

Musk spoke out at the UK AI Safety Conference, where AI nerds met to spill the beans on how to make this thing safe for us all.
